Specialty Zeolites

Zeochem’s specialty zeolites are special framework synthetic zeolite-based materials with a wide range of silica-to-aluminum ratio (Si/Al), available in powder form (spherical bead form possible). They are used as volatile organic component (VOC) adsorbents in industrial applications as well as odor control and odor removal additives in formulations such as thermoplastics, duroplastics, fibers, films, coatings, lacquers, inks, paints and construction materials.

Our specialty zeolites can effectively and permanently adsorb a wide range of hydrocarbons, solvents and other toxic and nontoxic substances down to ppm levels. This effect is shown even in the presence of water. We offer the ZEOflair line, both hydrophobic and hydrophilic zeolites, some of which can be used to adsorb odors, flavors or VOCs in the presence of atmospheric moisture.

ZEOflair 100/110

ZEOflair 100/110 is a highly active, hydrophobic adsorbent with high thermal stability for the removal of undesirable odors and flavors. Due to its three-dimensional open structure, ZEOflair 100/110 also effectively removes larger odor molecules.

These special adsorbent systems can easily be incorporated as additives to existing master batch formulations.

ZEOflair 100/110 is strongly selective for the adsorption of a wide range of VOCs/odors from the air, based on organic compositions.

This product can effectively adsorb a range of hydrocarbons, solvents and toxic organic compounds down to ppm levels, even in the presence of water.

ZEOflair 90

ZEOflair 90 is a new, value-added adsorbent addition to the ZEOflair portfolio. ZEOflair 90 is strongly selective for the adsorption of a wide range of odors/VOCs from various packaging materials, even in high humidity conditions. It can effectively reduce a range of organic and inorganic compounds to imperceptible levels, despite the presence of water. Potential ZEOflair 90 applications for odor/VOC control include post-consumer (PC) and post-industrial (PI) and scrap/regrind polyethylene and polypropylene recycled streams. The best performance is achieved with PC/PI streams that either have low to no aromatic odor content or that have undergone prior odor pretreatment such as washing, or degassing, etc.

it depends on the size & concentration levels of odor/VOC compounds one tries to target for removal in the formulation. Type 100/110 for smaller size compounds, type 350 for medium size compounds, and type 800/810 for larger size compounds.

ZEOflair powders’ ability to remove odor/VOC compounds at elevated temperatures is diminished. However, as the material starts to cool down, the odor/VOC compounds that are still left in the formulation will be adsorbed by ZEOflair powders
